Overview
The EEPROM stores up to 8KiB of plain binary data and is used by an architecture to boot a computer. For example, the Lua architecture expects this to contain a script that is run as the first thing when the computer is powered up. The default Lua BIOS (which can be crafted) will look for file systems containing an init.lua file and run that. Custom BIOSes could be written that boot off of network devices, for example.
The EEPROM is crafted using the following recipe:
- 4 x Gold nugget/oreberry (with Tinker's Construct)
- 1 x Redstone Torch
- 2 x Paper
- 1 x Transistor
- 1 x Microchip (Tier 1)
The EEPROM (Lua BIOS) is crafted using the following recipe:
- 1 x EEPROM
- 1 x OpenComputers Manual
Component API
Component name: eeprom. Callbacks:
get
get():string
Get the currently stored byte array.
set
set(data:string)
Overwrite the currently stored byte array.
getLabel
getLabel():string
Get the label of the EEPROM.
setLabel
setLabel(data:string)
Set the label of the EEPROM.
getSize
getSize():number
Gets the maximum storage capacity of the EEPROM.
getDataSize
getDataSize():number
Gets the maximum data storage capacity of the EEPROM.
getData
getData():string
Gets currently stored byte-array (usually the component address of the main boot device).
setData
setData(data:string)
Overwrites currently stored byte-array with specified string.
getChecksum
getChecksum():string
Gets Checksum of data on EEPROM.
makeReadonly
makeReadonly(checksum:string):boolean
Makes the EEPROM Read-only if it isn't. This process cannot be reversed.
