CPUs, while not acting as components, are required to make a computer start up. They also control the number of components that can be connected to a computer before it will not start anymore / crash.

The Tier 1 CPU can support a maximum of 8 components and is crafted using the following recipe:

* 4 x Iron nugget/oreberry (with Tinker's Construct)
* 1 x Redstone dust
* 1 x [[Item/materials|Control Unit]]
* 2 x [[Item/materials|Microchip (Tier 1)]]
* 1 x [[Item/materials|Arithmetic Logic Unit]]

The Tier 2 CPU can support a maximum of 12 components and is crafted using the following recipe:

* 4 x Gold nugget/oreberry (with Tinker's Construct)
* 1 x Redstone dust
* 1 x [[Item/materials|Control Unit]]
* 2 x [[Item/materials|Microchip (Tier 2)]]
* 1 x [[Item/materials|Arithmetic Logic Unit]]

The Tier 3 CPU can support a maximum of 16 components and is crafted using the following recipe:

* 4 x Diamond Chip
* 1 x Redstone dust
* 1 x [[Item/materials|Control Unit]]

* 1 x [[Item/materials|Arithmetic Logic Unit]]
